Wisconsin High School Basketball - Merrill tops Newman
January 27, 2024: Merrill, WI 54452 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Merrill Bluejays (Merrill, WI) and the visiting Newman Fighting Cardinals (Wausau, WI), saw Merrill's basketball squad knock off Newman by a count of 72-61.
With the victory, Merrill upgrades its record to 5-9 on the campaign. The Bluejays travel to Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln (Wisconsin Rapids, WI) to play the Red Raiders in a Wisconsin Valley challenge on Monday, January 29. The Red Raiders come into the challenge with a record of 5-10. Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln won 74-66 in their recent non-league challenge against Rhinelander (Rhinelander, WI)
Next up, the Fighting Cardinals play the Marathon Red Raiders (Marathon, WI) in a Marawood - South challenge, on Tuesday, January 30. Newman will attempt to upgrade on its 2-14 season record. The Red Raiders come into the challenge with a 15-1 record after their 58-40 league win over Edgar (Edgar, WI).
