The Athens Warriors (Athens, IL) basketball crushed the visiting St. Thomas More Sabers (Champaign, IL), 55-31 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Warriors (9-17) will now prepare for their test against Maroa-Forsyth (Maroa, IL). The Trojans go into the Sangamo test with a 19-5 record. In their last test, Maroa-Forsyth was trounced by Illinois Valley Central (Chillicothe, IL), 42-38, in a non-league test.

The Sabers now own a 11-12 record. They play next when they travel to Paxton-Buckley-Loda for a Illini Prairie test on Monday, January 29. St. Thomas More will encounter a Panthers squad coming off a 42-18 non-league loss to Williamsville (Williamsville, IL). The Panthers record now stands at 3-21.
