January 27, 2025: New Bedford, MA 02740 The crowd at Monday's non-league challenge between the Barnstable Red Hawks (Hyannis, MA) and the host New Bedford Whalers (New Bedford, MA), observed Barnstable's basketball team edge New Bedford by a score of 74-69.
The Red Hawks (11-3) will now prepare for their challenge against Nauset Regional (North Eastham, MA). The Warriors come into the Cape & Islands - Atlantic challenge with a 3-6 record. In their last challenge, Nauset Regional was tipped by Falmouth (Falmouth, MA), 59-56, in a league challenge.
With the loss, New Bedford falls to 9-3 on the campaign. The Whalers travel to Boston English (Boston, MA) to play the Eagles in a non-league bout on Friday, January 31. The Eagles go into the bout with a record of 7-8.
