The Newman Central Catholic Comets basketball team (Sterling, IL), was nudged 51-46 in Saturday's non-league battle with the visiting Fulton Steamers (Fulton, IL)

The Steamers now sport a 18-6 record. They put it on the line next when they host Monticello for a non-league battle on Saturday, January 28. Fulton will battle a Panthers team coming off a 48-45 league win over Cascade (Cascade, IA). The Panthers record now stands at 11-4.

The Comets (20-6) will now prepare for their battle against Mendota (Mendota, IL). The Trojans come into the Three Rivers - East battle with a 8-19 record. In their last battle, Mendota was nudged by St. Bede (Peru, IL), 57-42, in a league battle.
