The Merrillville Pirates routed the host Lowell Red Devils basketball team by a final score of 65-39 in Saturday's non-league game.

In their next game, the Pirates face the Lake Central Indians (St. John, IN) in a Duneland game, on Thursday, February 2. Merrillville will attempt to move on its 7-8 season record. The Indians enter the game with a 11-5 record after their 49-47 league loss to Chesterton (Chesterton, IN).

With the defeat, Lowell moves to 2-14 on the year. The Red devils host Andrean (Merrillville, IN) to face the Fighting 59ers in a Northwest Crossroads game on Thursday, February 2. The Fighting 59ers enter the game with a record of 2-12. Andrean lost 76-63 in their recent non-league game against Marquette Catholic (Michigan City, IN)
