Hutchinson Salthawks (Hutchinson, KS) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the visiting Newton Railroaders (Newton, KS), 36-23 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Hutchinson upgrades its record to 7-5 on the campaign. The Salthawks host South (Salina, KS) to play the Cougars in a non-league bout on Friday, February 2. The Cougars come into the bout with a record of 7-5. South lost 68-29 in their recent non-league bout against Maize South (Wichita, KS)

Next up, the Railroaders play the Haysville Campus Colts (Wichita, KS) in a non-league bout, on Friday, February 2. Newton will attempt to upgrade on its 1-10 season record. The Colts come into the bout with a 0-12 record after their 58-16 non-league loss to Goddard (Goddard, KS).
