Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Gates County Red Barons (Gatesville, NC) and the visiting Tarboro Vikings (Tarboro, NC), saw Gates County's basketball squad hold off Tarboro by a tally of 43-40.

With the victory, Gates County improves its record to 5-8 on the campaign. The Red Barons travel to Bertie (Windsor, NC) to confront the Falcons in a challenge on Friday, February 2. The Falcons come into the challenge with a record of 8-3. Bertie lost 41-38 in their recent league challenge against Martin County (Williamston, NC)
