Illinois High School Basketball - New Athens holds off Steeleville
January 31, 2025: New Athens, IL 62264 The New Athens Yellow Jackets basketball team scored 75 points and limited the visiting Steeleville Warriors to 72 in the Yellow Jackets league triumph on Friday.
The Yellow Jackets now possess a 13-7 record. They play next when they travel to Sparta for a non-league game on Tuesday, February 4. New Athens will confront a Bulldogs team coming off a 70-56 non-league loss to Anna-Jonesboro (Anna, IL). The Bulldogs record now stands at 14-8.
With the loss, Steeleville falls to 12-9 on the campaign. The Warriors host Christopher (Christopher, IL) to confront the Bearcats in a non-league game on Saturday, February 1. The Bearcats go into the game with a record of 10-10. Christopher won 38-35 in their recent league game against Trico (Campbell Hill, IL)
