In Thursday's non-league outing, the East Union Eagles (Afton, IA) basketball squad nipped the host Essex Trojans (Essex, IA), by a margin of 66-59.

The Eagles (3-17) will now prepare for their outing against Mount Ayr (Mount Ayr, IA). The Raiders go into the Pride of Iowa outing with a 15-6 record. In their last outing, Mount Ayr got by Central Decatur (Leon, IA), 66-48, in a league outing.
