The Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) basketball felled the visiting Owen Warhorses (Black Mountain, NC), 55-41 in Friday's league test.

The Vikings (12-8) will now prepare for their test against Mitchell (Bakersville, NC). The Mountaineers go into the 1A/2A Conference 42 test with a 8-7 record. In their last test, Mitchell thwarted Rosman (Rosman, NC), 90-41, in a league test.

The Warhorses now own a 1-17 record. They play next when they travel to Madison for a 1A/2A Conference 42 test on Monday, February 7. Owen will encounter a Patriots squad coming off a 91-59 league loss to Draughn (Valdese, NC). The Patriots record now stands at 3-15.
