Illinois High School Basketball - Auburn can't hold off Pontiac
February 5, 2022: Pontiac, IL 61764 The Pontiac Indians basketball team scored 72 points and held the visiting Auburn Trojans to 67 in the Indians non-league triumph on Saturday.
The Indians now sport a 14-11 record. They put it on the line next when they host Monticello for a Illini Prairie contest on Tuesday, February 8. Pontiac will battle a Sages team coming off a 57-45 non-league win over PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central (Petersburg, IL). The Sages record now stands at 23-3.
The Trojans (17-8) will now prepare for their contest against Pleasant Plains (Pleasant Plains, IL). The Cardinals enter the Sangamo contest with a 14-8 record. In their last contest, Pleasant Plains was nudged by St. Joseph-Ogden (St. Joseph, IL), 40-35, in a non-league contest.
