In Wednesday's non-league contest, the host Thatcher Eagles basketball team scored a good 72-54 win over the Morenci Wildcats.

The Eagles (17-10) will now prepare for their contest against Sabino (Tucson, AZ). The Sabercats come into the 3A South contest with a 18-4 record. In their last contest, Sabino defeated Andrada Polytechnic (Tucson, AZ), 91-15, in a league contest.

Next up, the Wildcats meet the Bisbee Pumas (Bisbee, AZ) in a 2A South battle, on Thursday, February 6. Morenci will attempt to advance on its 24-4 season record. The Pumas enter the battle with a 14-11 record after their 80-57 league win over San Miguel (Tucson, AZ).
