In Wednesday's league game, the Foothill Cougars (Palo Cedro, CA) soccer squad tipped the host Red Bluff Spartans (Red Bluff, CA), by a final score of 1-0.

The Cougars (3-7) will now prepare for their game against Shasta (Redding, CA). The Wolves go into the Sac River game with a 13-1 record. In their last game, Shasta tipped West Valley (Cottonwood, CA), 2-0, in a league challenge.

The Spartans now have a 1-13 record. They take the field next when they host West Valley for a Sac River challenge on Friday, February 8. Red Bluff will confront a Eagles team coming off a 2-1 league win over Enterprise (Redding, CA). The Eagles record now stands at 8-5.

Foothill played a solid defensive game, limiting Red Bluff to some difficult through balls goalkeeper Aaron Sloan was able to stymie except for two long shots on goal. After numerous scoring opportunities, Foothill's Zack Engles scored the gamewinner in the 68th minute after some aggressive attacking play from Louis Strickler, who was a dynamo throughout the game. Strickler recorded the assist on the goal. The defensive line of Taylor Bisordi, Levi Leffler, and Austin Huff consistently shut down the Red Bluff attack for the clean sheet.
