The Monessen Greyhounds (Monessen, PA) basketball were winner over the visiting Geibel Catholic Gators (Connellsville, PA), 57-47 in Friday's league bout.

The Greyhounds now possess a 10-8 record. They play next when they host Washington for a non-league bout on Monday, February 9. Monessen will play a Prexies team coming off a 44-37 league win over McGuffey (Claysville, PA). The Prexies record now stands at 8-6.

With the loss, Geibel Catholic falls to 10-12 on the campaign. The Gators host St. Joseph (Natrona Heights, PA) to play the Spartans in a WPIAL 1A 2 bout on Saturday, February 7. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 6-9. St. Joseph won 58-54 in their recent league bout against Serra Catholic (McKeesport, PA)
