Illinois High School Basketball - Putnam County trounced by Newman Central Catholic
February 11, 2025: Sterling, IL 61081 Newman Central Catholic Comets (Sterling, IL) supporters left the game happy Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the visiting Putnam County Panthers (Granville, IL), 72-44 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Newman Central Catholic advances its record to 15-14 on the year. The Comets travel to Kewanee (Kewanee, IL) to face the Boilermakers in a Three Rivers - East match on Friday, February 14. The Boilermakers enter the match with a record of 14-15. Kewanee lost 52-41 in their recent non-league match against Sherrard (Sherrard, IL)
The Panthers now own a 0-26 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Midland for a Tri-County match on Friday, February 14. Putnam County will face a Timberwolves squad coming off a 53-49 non-league win over Cornerstone Christian (Bloomington, IL). The Timberwolves record now stands at 9-16.
