Elgin Comets (Marion, OH) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Ridgemont Golden Gophers (Mount Victory, OH), 52-49 in a league bout.

With the win, Elgin upgrades its record to 7-11 on the season. The Comets travel to North Union (Richwood, OH) to play the Wildcats in a non-league bout on Wednesday, February 17. The Wildcats go into the bout with a record of 16-3. North Union lost 55-44 in their recent non-league bout against Marysville (Marysville, OH)

Next up, the Golden Gophers play the Vanlue Wildcats (Vanlue, OH) in a non-league bout, on Saturday, February 13. Ridgemont will attempt to upgrade on its 9-8 season record. The Wildcats go into the bout with a 6-8 record after their 55-53 league loss to Cory-Rawson (Rawson, OH).
