February 12, 2025: Newport, KY 41071 Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds (Newport, KY) boosters left the game satisfied Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad triumph over the visiting Dayton Greendevils (Dayton, KY), 56-29 in a league match.
With the victory, Newport Central Catholic upgrades its record to 15-13 on the year. The Thoroughbreds host Grant County (Dry Ridge, KY) to face the Braves in a non-league match on Monday, February 17. The Braves enter the match with a record of 14-11. Grant County won 44-40 in their recent non-league match against Anderson County (Lawrenceburg, KY)
The Greendevils now sport a 8-14 record. They put it on the line next when they host Newport for a District 36 match on Friday, February 14. Dayton will face a Wildcats squad coming off a 40-25 non-league win over Augusta (Augusta, KY). The Wildcats record now stands at 3-5.
