In Friday's league contest, the visiting Springport Spartans basketball team scored a close 52-47 win over the Maple Valley Lions.

The Spartans (12-6) will now prepare for their contest against Concord (Concord, MI). The Yellowjackets come into the Big 8 contest with a 12-8 record. In their last contest, Concord edged Reading (Reading, MI), 58-42, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Lions battle the Reading Rangers (Reading, MI) in a Big 8 contest, on Tuesday, February 18. Maple Valley will attempt to better on its 7-13 season record. The Rangers come into the contest with a 3-17 record after their 58-42 league loss to Concord (Concord, MI).
