In Tuesday's non-league match, the host Shelby Golden Lions basketball team scored a decisive 73-47 triumph over the Morehead Panthers.

In their next game, the Golden Lions meet the Hendersonville Bearcats (Hendersonville, NC) in a non-league match, on Thursday, February 23. Shelby will attempt to move on its 18-7 season record. The Bearcats enter the match with a 24-3 record after their 92-70 non-league win over Mount Pleasant (Mt. Pleasant, NC).

With the defeat, Morehead moves to 13-9 on the year.
