La Marque Cougars (La Marque, TX) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting La Vernia Bears (La Vernia, TX), 46-45 in a non-league bout.

With the win, La Marque upgrades its record to 20-16 on the season. The Cougars travel to Stafford (Stafford, TX) to clash with the Spartans in a non-league bout on Monday, February 26. The Spartans go into the bout with a record of 32-6. Stafford won 66-43 in their recent non-league bout against Boerne (Boerne, TX)
