In Friday's non-league game, the host Pieper Warriors baseball team scored a close 5-4 win over the Pioneer Diamondbacks.

The Warriors (4-1) will now prepare for their game against Wagner (San Antonio, TX). The Thunderbirds go into the 5A Region IV District 26 game with a 2-4 record. In their last game, Wagner nudged Vandegrift (Austin, TX), 3-2, in a non-league game.

Next, the Diamondbacks play the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial Wolverines (Alamo, TX) in a 5A Region IV District 31 game, on Monday, March 3. Pioneer will attempt to improve on its 3-2 season record. The Wolverines go into the game with a 3-1 record after their 9-4 league win over Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest (Pharr, TX).
