Carthage Bulldogs (Carthage, TX) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Van Vandals (Van, TX), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Bulldogs now sport a 8-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Athens for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 4. Carthage will face a Hornets squad coming off a 5-0 league loss to Troup (Troup, TX). The Hornets record now stands at 0-7.

With the loss, Van falls to 7-8 on the campaign. The Vandals travel to Hughes Springs (Hughes Springs, TX) to face the Mustangs in a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 4. The Mustangs enter the challenge with a record of 7-3. Hughes Springs lost 4-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Mabank (Mabank, TX)
