The Mt. Vernon Tigers softball team scored 11 runs and limited the host Rains Wildcats to 0 in the Tigers non-league triumph on Tuesday.

With the triumph, Mt. Vernon moves its record to 5-2 on the year. The Tigers travel to Pleasant Grove (Texarkana, TX) to clash with the Hawks in a non-league game on Thursday, March 7. The Hawks come into the game with a record of 3-2. Pleasant Grove lost 9-4 in their recent non-league game against Harmony (Big Sandy, TX)

In their next game, the Wildcats clash with the Kaufman Lions (Kaufman, TX) in a 3A Region II District 14 game, on Tuesday, March 12. Rains will attempt to move on its 1-2 season record. The Lions come into the game with a 4-12 record after their 16-1 non-league win over Martins Mill (Ben Wheeler, TX).
