Maize South Mavericks (Wichita, KS) backers were in high spirits Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Great Bend Panthers (Great Bend, KS), 61-53 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Maize South upgrades its record to 23-0 on the season. The Mavericks travel to Piper (Kansas City, KS) to play the Pirates in a non-league bout on Friday, March 8. The Pirates go into the bout with a record of 20-3. Piper won 72-71 in their recent non-league bout against Shawnee Heights (Tecumseh, KS)
