East Wilkes Cardinals (Ronda, NC) fans left the game pleased Friday as they observed their baseball squad nip the visiting North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC), 4-3 in a non-league match.

With the triumph, East Wilkes advances its record to 1-0 on the season. The Cardinals travel to Mount Airy (Mount Airy, NC) to battle the Granite Bears in a Northwest 1A match on Tuesday, March 11. The Granite Bears come into the match with a record of 0-4. Mount Airy lost 11-2 in their recent non-league match against Surry Central (Dobson, NC)
