In Saturday's non-league test, the Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS) softball squad the visiting Baker Hornets (Mobile, AL), by a tally of 11-8.

Next, the Cougars clash with the Long Beach Bearcats (Long Beach, MS) in a non-league test, on Monday, March 10. Newton County will attempt to advance on its 7-3 season record. The Bearcats go into the test with a 2-4 record after their 9-5 non-league loss to Harrison Central (Gulfport, MS).
