Spectators at Thursday's non-league match between the Loyd Star Hornets (Brookhaven, MS) and the visiting Vicksburg Gators (Vicksburg, MS), witnessed Loyd Star's softball squad tip Vicksburg by a count of 9-5.

The Hornets now sport a 7-1 record. They play next when they travel to Warren Central for a non-league match on Saturday, March 18. Loyd Star will face a Vikings squad coming off a 12-0 non-league win over Ridgeland (Ridgeland, MS). The Vikings record now stands at 6-5.
