Alabama High School Softball - Independence holds off Austin

Independence Eagles (Thompson's Station, TN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Austin Black Bears (Decatur, AL), 11-9 in a non-league challenge.

The Eagles now own a 1-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Walker Valley for a non-league challenge on Tuesday, March 14. Independence will face a Mustangs squad coming off a 4-2 non-league loss to Lincoln County (Fayetteville, TN). The Mustangs record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Austin falls to 6-12 on the campaign. The Black bears travel to Bellaire (Bellaire, TX) to face the Cardinals in a non-league challenge on Wednesday, March 15. The Cardinals enter the challenge with a record of 8-10. Bellaire won 4-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Tishomingo County (Iuka, MS)
