March 16, 2023: Taylorsville, NC 28681 Alexander Central Cougars (Taylorsville, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting East Rowan Mustangs (Salisbury, NC), 4-1 in a non-league challenge.
The Cougars now own a 4-3 record. They take the field next when they host Ashe County for a Northwestern 3A/4A challenge on Tuesday, March 21.
With the loss, East Rowan falls to 5-2 on the campaign. The Mustangs host A.L. Brown (Kannapolis, NC) to battle the Wonders in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 20. The Wonders enter the challenge with a record of 1-6. A.L. Brown lost 8-7 in their recent league challenge against West Cabarrus (Concord, NC)
