The Shelby Golden Lions baseball squad (Shelby, NC), was overwhelmed 11-3 in Wednesday's non-league contest with the visiting Freedom Patriots (Morganton, NC)

With the triumph, Freedom moves its record to 6-4 on the season. The Patriots host South Caldwell (Hudson, NC) to confront the Spartans in a Northwestern 3A/4A contest on Friday, March 21. The Spartans come into the contest with a record of 8-0. South Caldwell won 6-1 in their recent non-league contest against Kings Mountain (Kings Mountain, NC)

The Golden Lions now possess a 1-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Highland Tech for a Southern Piedmont 1A/2A contest on Friday, March 21. Shelby will confront a Rams squad coming off a 12-4 league win over Shelby (Shelby, NC). The Rams record now stands at 4-5.
