The crowd at Wednesday's non-league bout between the Independence Patriots (Coal City, WV) and the visiting Point Pleasant Big Blacks (Point Pleasant, WV), observed Independence's softball team prevail over Point Pleasant by a tally of 14-6.

The Patriots (1-0) will now prepare for their bout against Princeton (Princeton, WV). The Tigers go into the bout with a 1-1 record. In their last bout, Princeton knocked off Oak Hill (Oak Hill, WV), 3-2, in a league bout.

In their next game, the Big Blacks clash with the Lincoln County Panthers (Hamlin, WV) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, March 20. Point Pleasant will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record.
