The crowd at Tuesday's league match between the Willows Honkers (Willows, CA) and the host Live Oak Lions (Live Oak, CA), saw Willows's softball squad nip Live Oak by a count of 3-1.

The Honkers now sport a 4-6 record. They take the field next when they host Colusa for a Sacramento Valley test on Thursday, March 22. Willows will clash with a RedHawks team coming off a 7-5 non-league win over East Nicolaus (Nicolaus, CA). The RedHawks record now stands at 6-3.

The Lions (1-6) will now prepare for their test against Trinity (Weaverville, CA). The Wolves come into the Sacramento Valley test with a 0-4 record. In their last test, Trinity by Etna (Etna, CA), 12-2, in a non-league test.

The Lady Honkers scored first in the top of the third after Patricia Farrel led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a stolen base and advanced to third on an error and then scored on a fielders choice of the bat of Maira Jaramillo. Live Oak answered back with a run in the bottom half of the inning after two singles and an error. The game remained a 1-1 tie until the top of the sixth when Jaramillo singled and moved to second on a passed ball and scored on a bunt by Natalie Massa. Massa scored on a RBI single by Courtney Dicharry to cap the Honkers scoring at 3. The Honkers played solid defense in the final six outs to take their first league game 3-1. The Honkers have their first home game on Thursday against Colusa at 4pm.
