In Thursday's league match, the host Shelby County Wildcats softball team scored a tight 7-6 victory over the Central of Clay County Volunteers.

The Wildcats (8-2) will now prepare for their match against Sylacauga (Sylacauga, AL). The Aggies go into the 5A Area 8 match with a 6-13 record.

In their next game, the Volunteers battle the Ranburne Bulldogs (Ranburne, AL) in a non-league match, on Saturday, March 22. Central of Clay County will attempt to better on its 7-8 season record. The Bulldogs go into the match with a 4-8 record after their 5-2 league loss to Southeastern (Remlap, AL).
