In Saturday's non-league bout, the Lafayette Commodores (Oxford, MS) baseball squad overwhelmed the host Hernando Tigers (Hernando, MS), by a tally of 19-6.

Next up, the Commodores encounter the West Point Green Wave (West Point, MS) in a 5A Region 1 bout, on Tuesday, March 24. Lafayette will attempt to upgrade on its 9-6 season record. The Green Wave enter the bout with a 7-11 record after their 9-7 non-league loss to Starkville (Starkville, MS).

The Tigers (7-8) will now prepare for their bout against DeSoto Central (Southaven, MS). The Jaguars go into the 7A Region 1 challenge with a 9-7 record. In their last challenge, DeSoto Central gained a win over South Panola (Batesville, MS), 12-2, in a non-league challenge.
