Jefferson Cougars (Shenandoah Junction, WV) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Washington Patriots (Charles Town, WV), 2-1 in a league challenge.

The Cougars now own a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they host Hedgesville for a Eastern Panhandle challenge on Monday, March 27. Jefferson will battle a Eagles squad coming off a 22-8 league win over Musselman (Inwood, WV). The Eagles record now stands at 2-0.

With the loss, Washington falls to 2-1 on the campaign. The Patriots travel to Petersburg (Petersburg, WV) to battle the Vikings in a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 25.
