Eastern Montgomery Mustangs (Elliston, VA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad run past the host Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), 17-8 in a non-league challenge.

The Mustangs now own a 4-3 record. They take the field next when they travel to Craig County for a Pioneer challenge on Monday, April 3. Eastern Montgomery will battle a Rockets squad coming off a 16-1 non-league loss to Glenvar (Salem, VA). The Rockets record now stands at 0-2.

With the loss, Giles falls to 0-6 on the campaign. The Spartans host Grayson County (Independence, VA) to battle the Blue Devils in a Mountain Empire challenge on Tuesday, March 28.
