In Thursday's non-league game, the host Leake Central Gators baseball team scored a nice 14-2 win over the Newton Tigers.

The Gators (3-10) will now prepare for their game against Choctaw Central (Philadelphia, MS). The Warriors go into the 4A Region 4 game with a 2-15 record.

Next, the Tigers play the Taylorsville Tartars (Taylorsville, MS) in a non-league game, on Friday, March 28. Newton will attempt to improve on its 0-5 season record. The Tartars go into the game with a 7-9 record after their 7-3 non-league loss to Northeast Jones (Laurel, MS).
