California High School Baseball - Western Christian holds off Diamond Ranch
March 28, 2025: Pomona, CA 91766 In Friday's non-league game, the visiting Western Christian Fighting Lancers baseball team scored a close 6-2 win over the Diamond Ranch Panthers.
The Fighting Lancers (5-4) will now prepare for their game against Upland (Upland, CA). The Highlanders/Scots go into the non-league game with a 2-7 record. In their last game, Upland was overwhelmed by Colony (Ontario, CA), 3-2, in a non-league game.
Next, the Panthers play the Chino Cowboys (Chino, CA) in a Mt. Baldy game, on Wednesday, April 2. Diamond Ranch will attempt to improve on its 3-8 season record. The Cowboys go into the game with a 8-2 record after their 12-3 league win over Don Lugo (Chino, CA).
Game Summary
It was a tight 0-0 game through the first four innings, with Western unable to cash in on 6 hits through 4 frames. Western broke through in the 5th inning, however, putting up 5 runs with 6 hits in a row. In the end Western was dominant offensively, with 16 hits. Josh Turner lead the team going 2-4, both hits no doubt home runs to provide 4 of the teams RBIs on the day. Ethan Scofield went 3-4 in his Lancers debut, providing a much needed spark for the Lancers. On the mound, Stradley was in control in his 6 innings, giving up 2 runs while striking out six.
