Grays Creek Bears (Hope Mills, NC) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad run past the visiting Douglas Byrd Eagles (Fayetteville, NC), 17-3 in a non-league challenge.

The Bears now own a 9-3 record. They take the field next when they host Lee County for a Cape Fear Valley 3A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. Grays Creek will battle a Yellow Jackets squad coming off a 13-0 league win over Terry Sanford (Fayetteville, NC). The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 8-2.

With the loss, Douglas Byrd falls to 7-5 on the campaign. The Eagles host Westover (Fayetteville, NC) to battle the Wolverines in a Cape Fear Valley 3A challenge on Tuesday, April 5. The Wolverines enter the challenge with a record of 1-4. Westover lost 22-0 in their recent league challenge against Grays Creek (Hope Mills, NC)
