The Ashley Screaming Eagle (Wilmington, NC) baseball trounced the visiting Pender Patriots (Burgaw, NC), 11-0 in Wednesday's non-league contest.
Coming up next, the Screaming Eagle play the Laney Buccaneers (Wilmington, NC) in a 4A Mideastern contest, on Saturday, April 6. Ashley will attempt to better on its 9-3 season record.
The Patriots now sport a 3-8 record. They take the field next when they travel to East Columbus for a non-league contest on Thursday, April 4.




The Eagles baseball team was back in action on Wednesday for a 4:00 game with the Pender Patriots. Pante Miliotis pitched 4 innings for Ashley, allowing only one infield hit. Cully Crott made his debut on the mound, throwing the 5th inning, allowing one hit while striking out 3. At the plate, Eric Eason paced the Eagles' offense, going 3 for 3, scoring 3 runs, and stealing 4 bases. Pante helped himself at the plate, collecting 2 hits. Jesse Goyne also got his first hit of the season, collecting 2 RBIs with a bases-loaded single through the left side of the infield. The final score was 11-0, with the game shortened to 5 innings due to the mercy rule. The Ashley varsity baseball team is now 9-3 overall, 1-0 in the Mideastern conference. We are back in action on Friday as we travel to Laney to take on the Bucs for a 6:00 game.
