Willows Honkers (Willows, CA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting Winters Warriors (Winters, CA), 13-3 in a non-league battle.

The Honkers (17-7) will now prepare for their battle against Sutter (Sutter, CA). The Huskies go into the non-league battle with a 12-10 record. In their last battle, Sutter topped Winters (Winters, CA), 19-2, in a league battle.

The Warriors now sport a 4-13 record. They play next when they host Orland for a Butte View battle on Tuesday, April 9. Winters will meet a Trojans squad coming off a 6-2 league loss to Gridley (Gridley, CA). The Trojans record now stands at 1-11.

The Honkers scored 4 in the first. Natalie Massa reached on an error, Megan Hughes singled and Samantha Brott reached on a fielders choice and got the first RBI. Morgan Hughes reached on an error scoring the second run and Kassidy Millen got a two-run single scoring Brott and Baker who reached on also reached on an error. Winters settled down and held the Honkers to just one more run through 4. In the T-5, Winters put together a rally when Baily Oppoerman connected for her second hit of the game a 3 run triple to get within 2 of the Honkers. The Honkers responded with 8 runs in the bottom half of the inning, capped off by a 2 run double off the bat of Ally Brunner to end the game early due to the 10 run rule and giving the Honkers a 13-3 victory. Brott got the win striking out 1, walking 1, and only giving up 5 hits.
