New Jersey High School Volleyball - Colts Neck nudged by Christian Brothers Academy
April 3, 2024: Lincroft, NJ 07738 The Christian Brothers Academy Colts volleyball team scored 2 points and limited the visiting Colts Neck Cougars to 1 in the Colts league victory on Wednesday.
The Colts now have a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Long Branch for a non-league game on Thursday, April 4.
The Cougars (1-1) will now prepare for their game against Freehold Boro (Freehold, NJ). The Colonials enter the Shore - A North game with a 0-1 record. In their last game, Freehold Boro was nudged by Howell (Farmingdale, NJ), 2-1, in a league game.
Match Summary
The Colts started off the season with the team that ended their season last year. CBA were able to defeat division rival Colts Neck in 3 sets. The match was back and forth for the first 2 frames especially. Colts Neck had the Brothers at set point 24-22, but the Colts charged back to take the set in thrilling fashion 27-25. In the 2nd set it was all Colts Neck as they took the lead and never relinquished it. CBA did show a lot of grit and fight while being down by as many as 9, and closed the gap to 4 at one point. However it wasn't enough as CBA lost 25-19. In the 3rd set, it was another back and forth match, however CBA held the lead throughout to hold on to a 25-19 victory.
