Illinois High School Soccer - Lakes overwhelmed by Deerfield
April 4, 2022: Deerfield, IL 60015 In Monday's non-league battle, the host Deerfield Warriors soccer squad scored a close 6-0 triumph over the Lakes Eagles.
The Warriors (5-0) will now prepare for their battle against New Trier (Winnetka, IL). The Trevians come into the non-league battle with a 3-1 record. In their last battle, New Trier Maine South (Park Ridge, IL), 1-1, in a league battle.
The Eagles (0-5) will now prepare for their battle against Woodstock North (Woodstock, IL). The Thunder come into the non-league battle with a 3-2 record.
Game Summary
The Warriors scored four times in the first 25 minutes and cruised to a 6-0 win over Lakes. Holly Deutsch's hard shot was parried by the keeper, but Emily Fox drilled in the rebound at 11:27. Ryan Emory finished off a passing sequence from Riley Schimanski and Deutsch to make it 2-0 at 14:46. Fox got her second when she whipped in a left footed free kick from 19 yards at 17:10. Schimanski got an unassisted goal with a bomb from outside the attacking right edge of the penalty area at 24:28. Katie Morgan got her first varsity goal on a pk at 68:59. Katie Denison rounded out the scoring after she took a short corner from Simone Criz and rifled one in at 70:34. Lauren Gottlieb and Emma Gassman combined for the shutout.
