Missouri High School Baseball - Lutheran South nudged by Lake Country Lutheran
April 5, 2024: St. Louis, MO 63123 The Lake Country Lutheran Lightning baseball team scored 4 runs and limited the host Lutheran South Lancers to 3 in the Lightning non-league victory on Friday.
The Lightning (1-0) will now prepare for their match against Lutheran (St. Peters, MO). The Cougars go into the non-league match with a 1-8 record.
The Lancers (1-7) will now prepare for their match against Martin Luther (Greendale, WI). The Spartans go into the non-league match with a 0-0 record.
Game Summary
The Lightning came out very sloppy in their first game of the season against a good Lutheran South (St. Louis) team playing in their 14th game of the year. But the Lightning were gritty and made key plays when in counted to win 4-3 for their first victory of the year. Jack Poellot (jr) pitched 5 shutout innings for the win, striking out 7, and also was 2 for 4 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Preston Manthei (jr) had a double and an RBI. Jackson Menzel (jr) entered in the bottom of the seventh inning and got three outs on four pitches for the save.
