In Wednesday's league challenge, the Cabrillo Jaguars (Long Beach, CA) baseball squad triumphed over the host Compton Tarbabes (Compton, CA), by a final score of 12-2.

With the win, Cabrillo upgrades its record to 1-4 on the season. The Jaguars travel to Lakewood (Lakewood, CA) to battle the Lancers in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 12. The Lancers come into the challenge with a record of 1-4.

With the defeat, Compton falls to 0-5 on the season. The Tarbabes travel to Lakewood (Lakewood, CA) to battle the Lancers in a challenge on Wednesday, April 17. The Lancers come into the challenge with a record of 2-4.

Visiting Long Beach Cabrillo crushed the Compton Tarbabes by a score of 12-2 in a Moore League game despite the outstanding pitching performance of sophomore, Jose Franquez. The Babes Franquez pitched 5 solid innings striking out 10 batters, while allowing only 4 hits in giving up only one earned run. Franquez's performance was by far the best of any Tarbabe pitcher this year. His strong pitching effort could possibly earn him a call-up to the Varsity squad later in the season. He will defintely be in the Varsity starting rotation in the 2014 season. His skill level does not stop at pitching as he excels at first base and in the outfield.

Another bright spot for the Babes is the continued outstanding leadoff hitting of Salvador Gomez who went 2-3 against Cabrillo with four stolen bases. The Babes had 8 stolen bases in the game and their overall total of 14 in 5 games leads the very tough Moore League. Next up for the Babes is a road game against the tough Lakewood Lancers on April 17.
