In Thursday's non-league game, the host McGuffey Highlanders baseball team scored a tight 6-5 victory over the Chartiers-Houston Buccaneers.

The Highlanders (5-2) will now prepare for their game against Greensburg Salem (Greensburg, PA). The Golden Lions go into the WPIAL 3A 4 game with a 9-1 record. In their last game, Greensburg Salem tipped Connellsville (Connellsville, PA), 14-7, in a non-league game.
