Pinecrest Patriots (Southern Pines, NC) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Lumberton Pirates (Lumberton, NC), 4-3 in a league challenge.

The Patriots now sport a 12-2 record. They take the field next when they host Scotland for a Southeastern 4A challenge on Tuesday, April 19. Pinecrest will face a Fighting Scots squad coming off a 6-5 league loss to Purnell Swett (Pembroke, NC). The Fighting Scots record now stands at 7-6.

With the loss, Lumberton falls to 11-6 on the campaign. The Pirates host Hoke County (Raeford, NC) to face the Bucks in a Southeastern 4A challenge on Tuesday, April 19. The Bucks enter the challenge with a record of 12-5. Hoke County lost 6-4 in their recent league challenge against Richmond (Rockingham, NC)
