Gloucester Fishermen (Gloucester, MA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Saugus Sachems (Saugus, MA), 6-1 in a league challenge.

The Fishermen now own a 1-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Danvers for a Northeast challenge on Tuesday, April 23. Gloucester will battle a Falcons squad coming off a 15-0 league win over Salem (Salem, MA). The Falcons record now stands at 3-2.

With the loss, Saugus falls to 2-3 on the campaign. The Sachems host Swampscott (Swampscott, MA) to battle the Big Blue in a Northeast challenge on Monday, April 22. The Big Blue enter the challenge with a record of 1-1.
