Game Summary
This was a suspended contest. We were mandated to leave the field by a Chicago Park District official; we were not given our due opportunity to hit. A Thillen’s Stadium Field Administrator ordered both teams off the field, stating Lane Tech already surpassed its 5-7 p.m. time slot. Officials didn’t even arrive until 5:20, and it was almost 5:30 by the time we started (30 minutes past our scheduled game time start; Leyden arrived to Thillen's Stadium at 4:05 p.m.). We signed a contract with Lane Tech to play a complete IHSA sanctioned game, which didn’t happen, so Leyden is scoring this contest as a suspended game. As a side-note, Lane Tech is supposed to be using legal balls for its IHSA softball contests. There was a Rawlings FPEX batting practice softball (it has a synthetic cover and poly core) Lane Tech gave my pitcher to use during the 6th. These balls travel farther/faster. After Lane had already scored 3 runs in the 6th, I retrieved a foul ball and made the discovery.
