Avery County Vikings (Newland, NC) fans were pleased Monday as they observed their soccer team triumph over the visiting North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC), 9-0 in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Vikings confront the Mountain Heritage Cougars (Burnsville, NC) in a Western Highlands 1A/2A challenge, on Thursday, April 25. Avery County will attempt to better on its 8-6 season record. The Cougars enter the challenge with a 3-6 record after their 2-1 league win over Owen (Black Mountain, NC).
